You may be aware that a number of our previously elected board members have recently resigned from their positions on the RDHC board. Under section 13b of the club constitution I am currently sitting as Acting President until a new President is elected.
Many of you will naturally wonder what has prompted the resignations and in the absence of all the information, I cannot give you a full answer. Suffice to say there are considerable differences of opinion as to the management and direction of the club.
To this end some of you may have seen a Facebook message calling for a special general meeting on the 11th December. Section 22 of the constitution allows for the board to call a Special General Meeting. The reason for this meeting is to address the vacant positions on the board, allowing for you, our members, to vote. I would like to extend an invitation to you for your attendance at this meeting. We require a minimum quorum of 76 members. I do apologise for the short notice but have only today received the full membership email database.
A successful board needs members from all elements of the club and I hope at this meeting we can begin the process of taking the club forward and providing the playing experience that all members junior and senior, elite and social can reasonably expect.
As a reminder Thursday 11th December 7.00 Club Rooms, Special General Meeting to fill the posts of President, Financial Director, Senior Director, Coaching Director, Secretary, Communications Director and Facilities Director.
Although it is not mandatory and you can nominate on the night of the meeting, can I please ask you to email me nominations for the above positions as some others have already done. This simply is to speed the process up on the night. This Special Meeting has one agenda which is to fill the board. There will not be any general business and no other motions.
Can I add that I already have received one nomination for President. Alan Mills, he was president for 9 consecutive seasons. I don’t know of one president since who has not asked for his counsel and am positive he will offer the club stability and help us move forward both on and off the field as he did in his previous years as president.
Please be assured, although this is an unusual situation we are financially sound, we have some of the best facilities in the state and there is plenty of fantastic people in this club that will give us every opportunity to enjoy our hockey, both on and off the field. We just need to all come down to the club Thursday and vote in our vacant board positions.
Lets make the club about Hockey again.
