Rockingham Redbacks Wiillow Bridge side hosted Harlequins at Lark Hill on Saturday afternoon and treated an enthusiastic crowd to a goal feast, crushing the visitors 10-0
Coming off a goal-less half last week, Rockingham were keen to get on the scoreboard early, and took only eight minutes to score when Shaun Ford guided the ball with a precision defelection high into the goal.
Ford backed this up two minutes later, slamming the ball fromt he base line iin what was the shot of the day.
Bryan Taylor and Olly Bond combined in the midfield to string several passes together that left the defence flat-footed. The move ended with bond scroring an easy goal. Tom Hunter and Christian Oskam chipped in with a goal each to add to the visitors’ woes.
Ford still wasn’t finished, scoring a replay of his first goal to bring up his second hat-trick of the season.
Starting the second half six goals up, the home side added number seven when Matthew Wells picked up where he left off.
Rockingham appeared to go into cruise mode for most of the half, alowing Harlies some attacks, but they were unable to have many shots on goal.
The Redbacks stamped their dominance on the game in the last five minutes, with Hunter and Wells scoring again.
Taylor, the captain who always leads by example, was moved to the forward line and capped the game off with a goal of his own in the dying seconds.
It was the home side’s fourth win from five games, with an impressive average of more than five goals a game.
