What an amazing three days have just been had by 5 junior teams. The Bunbury junior carnival is always a great weekend of hockey, team spirit and laughter and this year was no exception. We took 5 teams down to Bunbury – J5/6 Girls and Boys, J7/8 Girls and Boys and J9/10 Girls – – J9/10 boys you were definitely missed 🙁
There were some great games both won and lost by our teams but in the end the aim of the weekend was achieved.
Bunbury Junior carnival is always about our juniors having opportunities to play a lot of hockey in a short time span, developing players and coming together. It was a sad year in the fact that no Rockingham teams made the finals, although our J5/6 girls came close to getting medallions (well done Queen Bee and your little workers).
Those that stayed at the scout hall had a great time – music, laughter (lots of laughter) and some great fire pit talk for the adults.. We encourage all juniors (and parents) to consider staying in the best accommodation money can buy in Bunbury in 2013 – we have great company, lots of laughs, dolphins on our doorstep and a chance to unwind with team mates (parents / coaches etc).
Just some quick thank you’s from your Carnival Coordinator
All the coaches – it can be tough job dealing with up to 14 kids in a team, subbing them, encouraging throughout roughly 12 games over the three days – so a huge pat on the back for you all.
Assistant Coaches / Managers – well done for all your running around and managment skills
Rebecca Sharland – thank you for driving the bus again (roundabout, roundabout, roundabout)
Toni Timson, Rob Thwaite, Di Collard, Nita Beaumont, Peta Koko, Glenn Russell – for all that you did to keep the scout hall running smoothly
Matt Hasson, Emily Mincherton, Mel Hasson – thank you for your umpiring commitment – we know it can be tough to wear that yellow shirt and you did the club proud – a big well done to both Matt and Emily who helped out out clubs with an umpiring duty 🙂
Allan Sadler – thank you for coordinatng said umpires and doing a little bit of umpiring yourself.
And most importantly to all the players – your enthusiasm for the game is wonderful – keep playing, keep enjoying it and keep trying…
To the parents that have supported their children over the weekend, thank you also. It can be tough watching from the sidelines but thank you for supporting the carnival, thank you for supporting your child and our club.
PS – if you are after photos of the weekend – Chris Bartle (club photographer) attempted to get to as many games as possible and has already uploaded some
the rest will be uploaded to ‘flickr’ very soon. So keep an eye on the site…
